In this episode of The Balanced Dietitian Podcast, Marie-Pier welcomes guest Jennifer Hicks to discuss mindful movement.
Jennifer shares her journey of recovery from an eating disorder and how she found healing through the practice of NIA, a movement practice that combines dance, martial arts, and healing arts. They emphasize the importance of being present in the body, listening to its signals, and avoiding setting unrealistic expectations.
In this episode, we explore the concept of mindful movement and contrast it with the harmful practices often associated with exercise. Marie-Pier and Jennifer also discuss the need to create a weight-neutral and inclusive environment in fitness classes, challenging internal biases, and embracing individuality.
